MrBeast’s early videos were poorly edited, with poor lighting and sound. He explained that he had only taken YouTube seriously in 2015 and had not filmed videos with the intention of sharing them online until then.
Donaldson’s channel grew rapidly in the following months. In January 2017, MrBeast uploaded a video of himself counting to 100,000. This took him 40 hours, and he rushed some portions to “keep it under 24 hours. The next month, he uploaded a video titled “Counting to 200,000 (Road to a Mil),” although it it also had to be sped up because the full fifty-five hours count exceeded YouTube’s upload limit.
During this period, Donaldson’s popularity grew rapidly. He gained notoriety for his quirky stunts, including attempting to break glass using a hundred megaphones, watching paint dry for an hour.
He also attempted to stay underwater for 24 hours, but his health problems prevented him from completing it. An attempt to spin a fidget spinner for 12 hours was also unsuccessful.
How Donaldson Helped Pewdiepie
PewDiePie is one of the most popular YouTubers in the world with over 90 million subscribers. From his humble start creating Let’s Play videos to his current series, Meme Review, PewDiePie has amassed a massive following by sharing his sense of humor and opinions on games and memes.
In 2018, there was a huge competition between PewDiePie and T-Series to become the most-subscribed channel on YouTube. PewDiePie gained fans from across the world. One fan, Donaldson, launched an advertising campaign to help PewDiePie gain more subscribers than T-Series. Donaldson spent time and some money and bought billboards, online and radio ads to help PewDiePie beat Tseris to become the most subscribed channel on Youtube.
He also created an ad with a car that said “Subscribe PewDiePie” when viewed from above.During Super Bowl LIII, he bought more seats for himself and his team whose jerseys said “Sub 2 PewDiePie. This attracted attention from other attendees at the game who recorded footage of the group chanting “Sub 2 Pewdiepie! and waving banners with the message. Donaldson later shared footage of himself and his team getting ejected from their seats after halftime after being told they violated ad policy.
Real Life Competition
In 2019 Mrbeast started creating real-life competition. It includes several rounds of tough challenges that are to be performed in the real world.
In March 2019, video game streamer Donaldson organized and filmed a real-life battle royale competition. The event was held in Los Angeles and had prize money of $200,000. Apex Legends publisher Electronic Arts sponsored the event and prize money
Counterfeit Money
Donaldson made headlines when he was complained about using fake money.
In November 2019, a video surfaced that appeared to show Donaldson using counterfeit money during one of his many public charity events. The video was made public by someone who had attended the event but was not one of the people who received free money.
Donaldson later explained that he used fake money during the event. He also explained this in order to mitigate the potential safety and security risks caused by a rush of people clamoring to get the free money. He later informed he exchanged the counterfeit bills for a real check and money for everyone after the event.
Rock, Paper, Scissors Event
In April 2020, Donaldson hosted a rock, paper, scissors tournament as part of its “Donaldson Originals” program on YouTube. Twelve U.S.-based influencers went head-to-head for the chance to compete in the live final round with 20 international competitors for a $250,000 grand prize. The entire series was streamed live on YouTube (you can still watch it here), and was ultimately won by Nadeshot himself.
More than 662,000 people tuned in to watch the live event—the most-watched live Original event in YouTube history at the time.
Another Influencer Tournament
On October 20, 2020, Donaldson came up with an idea for a new influencer tournament, This time it featured 24 competitors with a grand prize of $300,000. The influencers were divided into two teams of 12 and were made to compete in several elimination-style challenges over the course of 3 rounds.
Donaldson’s team was ultimately victorious and was awarded $300,000, with each member receiving $12,500 each. The D’Amelio family controversially won the tournament after taking advantage of a glitch in the system which allowed them to win without completing the challenge they were assigned.
One of the reasons for his success
Today, we’re going to talk about how MrBeast built himself up from a nobody to somebody by creating competitions for other influencers.
The first thing he did was reach out to other YouTubers and ask if they wanted to compete in challenges on his channel. The response was overwhelming, and he started making videos with more than one influencer at a time.
MrBeast’s career gained momentum when he started creating competitions for other YouTubers.
By soliciting donations and having the influencers compete in ridiculous challenges, he garnered a large amount of attention. It was because of this that he was able to grow his own fan base, leading to him becoming a successful YouTuber himself.
Conlcusion
