Shawntae Harris was born on the 14th of April, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She was born to David Ray McCoy, and Beverly Calloway.
Da Brat spent most of her childhood in the West Side district of Chicago.
Da Brat’s father, David was a businessman in Chicago, and her mother, Beverly is a city bus driver.
Her parents were never married and she was forced to live in two houses.
During her early days, Brat used to attend the Apostolic church, and she used to participate singer in the choir. Harris joined Kenwood Academy for her junior and sophomore year study.
