Early life
Trey Brown was 12 years old when he started the company. His mother, Sherell Peterson supported a lot in his business.
At 12 years old, Trey was aware of the violence that plagued his community. To stay away from trouble and to achieve his dream, he started this. He purchased 16 T-shirts from his leftover birthday money and sold them out in one week.
Career
Trey officially launched the Spergo clothing in 2018. The day after his birthday, he sold some 35 shirts to people in the local neighborhood and he earned $40,000.
He got $25000 from P. Diddy, a billionaire rapper who mentored him and made his startup grow further. He opened his first physical store and the company made a whopping $750,000 in 2020.
Shark Tank
In 2021, he applied to Shark Tank because they needed to raise the capital amount to improve their digital marketing. They entered the Tank on season 13, asking for $300,000 for 10% equity.
Deal Accepted
Daymond John accepted the deal for $300,000 in return for 20%.
Spergo received over 1000 online orders five days after the Shark Tank episode aired. A 2000% increase in the average number of sales they make online. The publicity he got after the Shark Tank show led him to appear on Ellen and Fox Business.
